Yacht-AIS Transponder

Y-tronic has developed Yacht-AIS Transponder. This version of our proven software enables the user to interface with any AIS Transponder.

Yacht-AIS Transponder works with Class A, Class B and Class B CS Transponders and determines automatically which type of transponder is used. According to the connected transponder, the software will offer the following features:

Class B "CS" (Carrier Sense):

• Input of ship static and voyage related data
• Transmit safety related broadcast messages with predefined context to all stations.
• Receive adressed and broadcasted safety messages (for example, with SAR information and shipping advisories)
• Receive and decode all broadcasted AIS binary messages (as defined by ITU, IMO, and St. Lawrence Seaway Authorities)
• Alarm in case of hardware failure with possibilities for acknowledging
  
  
• Display all vessels equipped with AIS and calculate CPA and tCPA like Yacht-AIS Professional

Class B "CS" Transponders are currently in the final stages of being defined as IEC 62287 as AIS for recreational boats. The first transponders are on its way and will probably be available by 2006 and Y-tronic is one of the first software developers (in fact, we do not know any other) who has developed a special solution for these hardware units.

Class B (SOTDMA):

• Input of ship static and voyage related data
• Transmit safety related broadcast messages with free context to all stations and selected stations
• Receive and transmit (max. 2 slots) adressed safety messages (for example, with SAR information)
• Receive and decode all adressed and broadcasted AIS binary messages (as defined by ITU, IMO, and St. Lawrence Seaway Authorities)
• Receive and transmit (max. 2 slots) adressed free text messages (for example, with berthing arrangements)
• Interrogate details from other vessels, SAR-airraft, AIS Basestations and Aids-to-Navigation
• Alarm in case of hardware failure with possibilities for acknowledging
  
  
• Display all vessels equipped with AIS and calculate CPA and tCPA like Yacht-AIS Professional

Class A:

• Input of ship static and voyage related data
• Transmit safety related broadcast messages with free context to all stations and selected stations
• Receive and transmit (max. 5 slots) adressed safety messages (for example, with SAR information)
• Receive and decode all adressed and broadcasted AIS binary messages (as defined by ITU, IMO, and St. Lawrence Seaway Authorities)
• Receive and transmit (max. 5 slots) adressed free text messages (for example, with berthing arrangements)
• Interrogate details from other vessels, SAR-airraft, AIS Basestations and Aids-to-Navigation
• Alarm in case of hardware failure with possibilities for acknowledging
• Alarm for Long-Range - Interrogation
  
  
• Display all vessels equipped with AIS and calculate CPA and tCPA as Yacht-AIS Professional

Most recreational boaters will use the new Class B "CS" units which should be available soon, as these units are low-cost and provide boaters with everything they need.
