Pilot-AIS
Pilot -AIS is
the perfect solution for pilots who want to take full advantage
of the information supplied via AIS.
With Pilot-AIS
on the mobile PC and an AIS Pilot
Plug Interface (Bluetooth
Pilot or USB
Pilot) the pilot can plug directly into the ships
AIS Transponder system. The AIS Pilot Plug is mandatory
on all ships above 1600 GRT. No additional GPS needed!
This allows the
pilot to access all AIS information as well as own-ship
information directly on his mobile PC without having to
deal with cryptic MKD's or unfamiliar software.
As most up-to-date
charting software packages do not support the AIS-data (NMEA
VDO-sentence) from the Pilot Plug (containing GPS data,
making it unnecessary to carry an GPS receiver), Pilot-AIS
transforms AIS data into normal GPS data (NMEA RMC-sentence)
and outputs this data to a virtual serial port. To connect
your charting software to this port, all you need is a Virtual
Null Modem Cable (see here
for details).
The Pilot-AIS
Software displays all information transmitted via the AIS
Pilot Plug:
- Own-Ship data
(including position, course, speed, heading, ROT, name,
callsign MMSI etc.)
- All other
vessels equipped with AIS (Class A and B)
- SAR-Aircraft
- Aids-to-Navigation
equipped with AIS
- AIS Basestations
- AIS text and
safety messages (transmit and receive)
- Binary AIS
messages with weather, traffic and lockage information
if broadcasted by shore-station.
- Compatible
with binary message from IMO and USCG (PAWSS) and St.
Lawrence Seaway
- AIS Hardware
Alarms from transponder.
Additionally
Pilot-AIS offers the pilot the possibilty to poll new acquired
vessels for their ship static data.
With Pilot-AIS
you know directly which vessels are coming up the channel.
No more VHF-calling "Northbound ship in approx. position"!
